Is the Mira Eco Showerhead suitable for your shower?

The Mira Eco Showerhead can be used in conjunction with power showers and mixer showers.  If your shower is not listed below please contact us with the make and type of your shower and we'll let you know.

POWER SHOWERS

The Mira Eco Showerhead is SUITABLE for Power Showers including but not limited to;

Mira Event, Mira Event XS, Mira Excel, Mira Extreme, Mira Vigour, Trevi CTV, Triton Aqua Sensation, Triton AS 2000 XT.

MIXER SHOWERS

The Mira Eco Showerhead is SUITABLE for Mixer Showers ONLY if your shower is fed with a minimum maintained water pressure of 0.5 bar (see "Will a Mira Eco showerhead work with my water system?" below)

The Mira Eco Shower head can be used with mixer showers, but the mixer shower must be fed with a minimum maintained water pressure of 0.5 bar (see "Will a Mira Eco showerhead work with my water system?" below).  If not, the Mira Eco Showerhead will fail to aerate the delivered water.

Including but not limited to these showers;

Mira Select, Mira 415, Trevi CTV.

Mixer Showers fed from a Combination Boiler - SUITABLE IF THE COMBI BOILER IS MODERN AND ACTIVATED AT A LOW FLOW RATE

Not suitable for early models of combi-boilers for the following reason:

Combination boilers have a minimum output flow rate required in order for the boiler to remain ignited.  If the output flow is restricted and the minimum requirement not achieved, the boiler will shut down it's integral gas valve via the "high limit thermostat".  Once the heated water has passed through the boiler, the high limit thermostat will reset, allowing the gas valve to open and the boiler to reignite.  However, the period of time between the gas valve being closed and allowed to open again means a "cool shot" of water is present in the system as the boiler has been inactive.  Subsequently, the water discharged from the showerhead cycles hot/cold continually.

ELECTRIC SHOWERS - NOT SUITABLE

The Mira Eco Shower head should not be used in conjunction with an electric shower.  To do so will impact upon the electric shower's ability to heat the cold water with which it is fed, and will result in the failure of the shower's internal components.

Mira Sport, Mira Vie, Mira Mini Duo & Eco, Mira Essentials 8.6kW, Mira Elite ST, Mira Orbis, Mira Advance, Mira Escape, Mira Thermostatic, Mira Orbis, Triton T200RE, Aqualisa Quartz.

Will a Mira Eco showerhead work with my water system?

Mira's Eco showerhead is compatible with the following water systems:

  • Gravity-fed systems 0.5 bar and above
    • The Mira Eco Showerhead requires a minimum maintained water pressure of 0.5 bar.  On a gravity-fed system comprising a cold water storage cistern in loft-space and hot water cylinder in airing cupboard, 1.0m head of water is equal to 0.1 bar maintained water pressure.  Head of water is the vertical distance measured from the top of the outlet (i.e. showerhead) to the underside of the cold water storage cistern above.  Therefore, at least 5.0m head of water is required for the Mira Eco Showerhead to operate on a gravity fed system.  If you are unsure about the pressure in your shower, it's best to seek advice from a qualified plumber
  • Mains pressure systems
  • Pumped systems

Do I have to replace the whole shower or is it just the showerhead that I change?

As long as you are using the Eco showerhead with the right water system (gravity-fed 0.5 and above, mains pressure systems or pumped systems not with electric showers) then you simply take off the old showerhead and put the new one on.

The Mira Eco showerhead's universal design means it should be compatible with all shower brands. You do not have to have a Mira shower to have a Mira Eco showerhead.

However, you must ensure that you select the right showerhead option ie. if you have an exposed hose you will need the Mira Eco adjustable handset (available in white or chrome) but if your hose is concealed behind the wall then you will need the Eco BIR (Built-In-Rigid) fixed head (available in white or chrome).

The Mira Eco showerhead's sleek and elegant design will compliment all existing shower styles, so saving water does not have to be expensive as it is only the showerhead that you need to change.

Please note, Savewatersavemoney has not tested this showerhead with all manufacturers products.  Savewatersavemoney does not accept liability should the Mira Eco Showerhead be unsuitable for your shower.

Why should I chose the Mira Eco showerhead?

There is a choice of built-in rigid or exposed styles which are available in white or chrome.

It comes with a one year guarantee and WRAS approval.

What measures are Mira taking to help the environment?

Mira is committed to minimising its impact on the environment and follow our parent company Kohler's thorough set of environmental guidelines.  By conserving energy, recycling and acting responsibly, we do all we can to reduce our carbon footprint.

Many of Mira's products now meet the criteria for the BMA's Water Efficiency Scheme and use the BMA's logo to help consumers identify them and make a more informed choice.

How does the Mira Eco showerhead work?

The Mira Eco showerhead works by using EcofficientTM technology, which is based on the Venturi principle.

The Venturi creates pressure which speeds up the water and forces air to be sucked in from the spray plate.  Air is then mixed with water to create larger droplets filled with air bubbles (just like agricultural crop sprayers).  The droplets explode on impact and produce similar coverage to conventional sprays.

The result is that the user feels more water on the body but uses less.

Does the Mira Eco showerhead have WRAS approval?

Yes.

What guarantee does the Mira showerhead come with?

The Mira Eco showerhead comes with a one year guarantee and WRAS approval.

Will a Mira Eco showerhead really save me money?

Will using an aerated showerhead affect the pressure of my shower?  If anything, my current is too weak.

If your pressure is too weak, then the Mira Eco showerhead will make it weaker. No manufacturers' water saving showers will boost flow rate unless they have been attached to a pump in some form. i.e. Power Shower or a dedicated separate Shower Pump.

Can I reduce the water flow using you water saving showerheads? If so, then by how much can the water flow be reduced?

The fixed and handheld water efficient showerheads we stock allow you to reduce the flow to a miximum of 7 to 8 litres at 80psi water supply.
